Zvitambo Institute for Maternal and Child Health Research is a multidisciplinary public health research institute dedicated to ensuring children survive and thrive through impactful research. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Zvitambo focuses on research studies addressing malnutrition, infectious diseases, and ensuring every child has a healthy start in life. As a non-profit company, Zvitambo operates from its head office in Harare, with a field site in Shurugwi. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Human Resources Manager to support our research teams across sites and projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

-The Human Resources Manager will oversee all human resources functions, including staffing, compensation, performance management, and employee relations.
-Responsibilities also include advising on employment law, health and safety, and safeguarding policies. The Manager will formulate and drive the human resources strategy to create a positive working environment, ensuring appropriate recruitment and support for staff to achieve Zvitambo's research objectives.
-Key duties include coordinating staffing, managing employee relations, implementing a performance management system, and overseeing staff recruitment and induction.
-Additionally, the Manager will refine or create new policies, advise on benefits packages, handle payroll and HR information systems, and lead Zvitambo's communications and public relations strategy.

Qualifications and Experience

-Relevant Bachelor's degree.
-Professional diploma in Labour Relations Management.
-Member of the Institute for Personnel Management in Zimbabwe.
-Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in reputable organizations.
-Proven experience in human resources matters, including recruitment, contracts, performance management, benefits, disciplinary issues, health and safety, and institutional safeguarding policies.
-Sound knowledge of local labor laws and grievance handling.
-Experience in job grading and overseeing robust performance management systems.
-Experience with payroll administration and statutory payments.
-Experience in drafting and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
-Prior team management experience.
-People-oriented, approachable, with good communication skills.
-Ability to work to strict deadlines.
-Fluency in Shona and English.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Shona.
-Computer literacy with practical experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs (e.g., Word, Excel).

Desirable:
-Experience in communications, public relations, and/or website management.
-Worked in a research organization and understands the research and NGO ecosystems in Zimbabwe.
