Background

terre des hommes Deutschland E.V. or simply tdh is an international non-profit and non governmental development agency based in Germany and working in the Southern Africa region through a regional office in South Africa. The objective of tdh programme is to support projects foreseen improvement of life and enjoyment of Children’s Right, particularly of those in need.

The tdh programme is operationalized through a network of local and international partners established in each of the following countries: Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

In 2020 tdh received a grant from BMZ the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development for a 3-year project co-implemented by three national organisations in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Zambia, namely ZELA, Kuwuka and Environment Africa. This project has eight hundred and thirty thousand and eighty two euros (€830 082) for three years.

Scope of this audit

These terms of reference address the requirement for external audit of financial statements of the Refugee Project for the calendar year of 2021, lasting from 1 January to 31 December. The final signed audit report will be submitted by 4th of March 2022 and a management letter by 22 February 2022.

The Auditor will present the annual audit report to the tdh Regional Office, tdh Country Office, Head Office, three partners and provide any clarifications required by managers. The audit will be carried out in accordance with International Standards of Auditing. Sufficient audit evidence should be gathered to substantiate in all material respects the accuracy of financial statements.

The audit report of the auditors should state if the audit was not in conformity with any of the above and indicate the alternative standards or procedures followed.
