Are you passionate about leading impactful humanitarian responses and advancing gender-equal, locally led solutions? CARE is looking for a Regional Humanitarian Manager (RHM) to play a critical role in addressing humanitarian crises and driving transformative change across Southern Africa.
Why This Role is Important
As RHM, you will spearhead CARE’s humanitarian efforts in the region, ensuring rapid and effective responses to crises. Collaborating with CARE’s global network and regional stakeholders, you will influence humanitarian action, represent CARE in key forums, and champion innovative approaches that prioritize the needs of the most vulnerable.
1. Lead Humanitarian Responses
-Deploy as the initial responder to crises, providing leadership and coordination for up to three months.
-Ensure smooth start-up and impactful implementation of humanitarian programs.
2. Shape Regional Strategy
-Design and execute a regional humanitarian strategy aligned with CARE’s mission.
-Focus on gender equality, localization, and outreach to vulnerable populations.
3. Strengthen Preparedness and Capacity
-Support country teams in developing robust emergency preparedness plans.
-Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
4. Build Strategic Partnerships
-Represent CARE in regional platforms, advocating for humanitarian priorities.
-Strengthen relationships with donors, UN agencies, governments, and peer organizations.
Qualifications and Skills
-Master’s degree or equivalent experience in humanitarian response, with 8–10 years of expertise in program design, emergency response, and risk reduction.
-Proven ability to develop strategies that align with both global and local goals.
-Experience leading mid-to-large-scale emergency responses with a focus on accountability and gender equality.
-Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with high-level donors, UN agencies, and other stakeholders.
-Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal skills.
