CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is an organisation that specialises in population health research and programming, including on sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. CeSHHAR has an extensive national, regional, and international academic and community partnership network. CeSHHAR has a diverse range of funders which include the Wellcome Trust, the Gates Foundation, UK Medical Research Council, Templeton World Charity Foundation, Global Fund for AIDS TB and Malaria. We partner very closely with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (UK). CeSHHAR is implementing a National Key Population programme on behalf of National AIDS Council and Ministry of Health and Child Care in all 10 provinces in Zimbabwe. The Programme Manager for the Global Heat Attribution Project (GHAP) will oversee both program and financial management, aiming to transform measurement methods in climate change and health. The manager will lead the tracking of the impacts of climate change on maternal and child health for attribution, the post holder will also lead in the development of heat indicators that affects Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) outcomes under the HIGH Horizons project. The manager should collaborate with systems developers to integrate these indicators into health monitoring systems like DHIS2, ensuring effective data capture and presentation. Additionally, the role involves scaling databases and quantifying the effects of anthropogenic climate change on health, requiring effective coordination among stakeholders for the project's success.
• Oversee the overall program management and financial operations of GHAP. Develop and implement project plans that align with overarching goals.
• Lead the tracking of climate change impacts on maternal and child health for attribution purposes.
• Lead the development of climate indicators affecting Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) outcomes (e.g., temperature, humidity).
• Identify and assess thresholds for health impacts.
• Collaborate with systems developers to integrate climate indicators into health monitoring systems, specifically the District Health Information System 2 (DHIS2). Ensure effective capture and display of climate data alongside health indicators.
• Enhance and maintain databases containing climate and health data across regions (Africa, Europe, Latin America). Ensure data integrity and relevance in climate and health indicators.
• Coordinate with various stakeholders involved in the programme to ensure alignment and effective collaboration.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and communication throughout the project.
• Quantify the impacts of anthropogenic climate change on health outcomes. Utilize software solutions to analyze and interpret data.
• Prepare regular progress reports for stakeholders and funders. Document methodologies, findings, and lessons learned throughout the project.
• Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines and regulatory standards in health-related research.
• Foster training and development opportunities for team members and stakeholders, promoting knowledge sharing and skills enhancement.
• Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project progress and outcomes. Adjust project activities based on evaluation findings to improve effectiveness
• A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Public health, Policy, Population studies; Health Systems, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of program/project management in public health, or related areas.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and engage with diverse stakeholders, including governmental, non-governmental, and communities.
• Familiarity with health monitoring systems (e.g., DHIS2) and data analysis software.
• Proven experience in the development and monitoring of climate indicators and Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) indicators, and their implications for health outcomes
• Experience with database management and data analysis, particularly in health and climate-related research.
