Post H: Electrician (1 Post: Kwekwe Campus)
The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
-Checking of line tension and the gap between phases
-Changing of fuses when the need arises
-Periodic testing of the switch gear feed for the overhead lines
-Checking the condition of all the transformers
-Keeping records of transformer servicing and recommend servicing when due
-Coordinating the cutting down of trees and bushes underneath lines
-Carrying out periodic assessment of lighting and power requirements for University buildings, sporting and recreation facilities and recommending remedy to the Artisan Supervisor
-Maintaining motors and electrical connections for pumps, switchboards and control panels and carrying out periodic checks to ensure that these remain functional
-Maintaining all electrical installations and equipment for the University to ensure that they remain functional
-Repairing electrical gadgets like heaters, stoves, tea urns and light points.
-Securing all the substations and pillar-boxes
-Assessing and producing bill quantities of materials required for maintenance and new installations
-Monitoring stock levels in the workshop stores and recommend for replenishment to the Artisan Supervisor
-Making follow ups to orders made and checking that the material delivered is of the right quantity, specification, and state
-Producing monthly reports on maintenance and any new work done
-Taking meter readings for all metered installations of the University
-Contributing to the success of the Central Services and Amenities Department by performing all other essential duties as assigned

-Class One Journeyman certificate in Electrical power engineering
-A minimum of 2 years’ professional work experience as an Electrician
