ASSOCIATE PROGRAM OFFICER
Africa University is a private, Pan- African, United Methodist-related institution of higher education located in Mutare, Zimbabwe. The University is a founding member of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) and is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following strategic positions within the TAGDev 2.0 Program. The TAGDev 2.0 Program (Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development) is a collaboration between RUFORUM, Mastercard Foundation, twelve (12) African universities and the Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA). The main objective is to strengthen universities and TVET institutions to better serve communities by skilling and empowering Africa’s young people and their institutions to drive inclusive, equitable and climate resilient transformation of agriculture and agrifood systems. This goal will contribute to three strategic outcomes namely: (a) Expanded equal work opportunities for young women and men in the agricultural sector. (b) Improved climate adaptive agricultural production and productivity. (c) Strengthened quality of higher agricultural education outcomes in training, research and innovation. The Associate program officer shall be based at Africa University. He/she will perform the administrative functions and day to day management and operations of the program unit and activities

Duties and Responsibilities

-Support the Program Coordinator at the implementing university in the administration and technical delivery of the program.
-Provide administrative support in the selection, recruitment and capacity building of program staff and scholars.
-Establishing partnerships with private sector, TVETs and other institutions to advance university-community engagement, students training, entrepreneurship
-Support the program coordinator and RUFORUM Secretariat team in mobilizing resources to support program activities for scaling and supporting other partner universities.
-Participate in monthly program meetings
-Proportion of resources raised to support scaling up and out
-Monthly, quarterly and annual reports produced and shared with the Program
-Director at the RUFORUM Secretariat.
-Timely completion of studies by beneficiary students
-Institutional transformation initiatives undertaken and respective outcomes
-Program learning outcomes documented and published
-Proportion of financial resources fundraised to support scale and sustainability of the program operations

Qualifications and Experience

-Master’s degree in Agricultural sciences and related disciplines
-PhD will be an added advantage
-At least 5 years’ experience in coordinating development programs
-Experience in resource mobilization with evidence of funds mobilised from international community
-Evidence of publication in SCOPUS indexed journals
-Flexibility in working schedule and willingness to travel at short notice
