Great Zimbabwe University invites qualified individuals to apply for the positions of Assistant/Senior Assistant Librarian in the Research Discovery and Dissemination section of the Library. Duties and Responsibilities
-Manage scholarly communication services and programs related to research publishing, credibility, research visibility, and impact. -Assist in providing specialized research consultations and instruction services, fostering collaboration and initiative. -Review author agreements for faculty-authored articles in the institutional repository and consult with faculty on book contracts. -Consult on the review of faculty curriculum vitae and harvest articles from open access repositories. -Maintain lists of credible and predatory journals and publishers. -Provide specialist services to evaluate, select, and implement tools for organizing researchers' data. -Participate in library events and fairs related to research publishing, visibility, impact, and credibility. -Assist in ensuring that library research spaces meet the university's research and innovation agenda. -Perform other related duties as assigned by the University Librarian or supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
-A first degree in Library and Information Sciences or equivalent, plus four (4) years post-qualification experience; or -A Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences or equivalent, plus two (2) years post-qualification experience. -Practical knowledge of digital library systems is an added advantage. -Five (5) Ordinary level passes, including English Language.
