Job Profile
Do you have a creative mind with a flair for digital design? Do you have a passion for crafting visual storytelling that can drive change in the world? We are seeking an emerging digital designer who can create compelling, innovative designs and translate them into persuasive digital communications across multiple channels. As part of our creative content team—which includes writers, designers, photographers, filmmakers, and planners—you'll be dedicated to crafting compelling visual narratives that inspire our target audience and reinforce the passion of our existing supporters. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the organisation, including, digital, fundraising, media, campaigns, and education. Working collaboratively within the design team, you will develop engaging concepts and visual assets for fundraising appeals, advocacy campaigns and wider engagement both on digital channels and for printed outputs. This role offers more than just the opportunity to elevate your design skills to the next level; it’s a chance to be part of our brand's evolution. You will play an important role in launching and implementing our brand refresh. You will have an exceptional eye for detail, be organised and be good at prioritising your work with the support of your manager. You will be excellent at building relationships and confident in communicating your ideas.

Duties and Responsibilities

-The role of the Assistant digital designer is pivotal in crafting dynamic and compelling visual narratives across various media.
-This role requires a multifaceted skill set, combining creativity, collaboration, and technical expertise.
-The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver with a passion for digital design, capable of translating fundraising objectives into engaging visual stories while maintaining brand consistency and technical skills for project success.

Creative design and content creation:
Craft and develop visual content: Support the designers to create captivating visuals for social media, websites, and print, aligning with the brand identity and message strategy. Includes graphics, layouts, and concepts.
Master typography and graphic design: Utilise a deep understanding of typography, colour theory, and design principles for appealing, effective designs. It involves choosing suitable fonts and elements to boost readability and engagement.
Create motion graphics: Produce simple animated content for multiple platforms to improve visual appeal and engage audiences, needing creativity in animation principles and software proficiency.
Design templates on Canva, Adobe Express, and Figma: Create and refresh templates for social media, presentations, and fundraising materials on platforms like Canva, Adobe Express, and Figma, enabling different teams to produce quality content consistently.

Collaboration and brand consistency:
Collaboration with fundraising and content teams: Work closely with Fundraising, content, and digital teams to conceptualise and execute design projects involving brainstorming sessions, creative input, and alignment with audience objectives
Brand guidelines adherence: Support the designers to maintain and advise on brand guidelines across all digital and print materials to ensure consistency in the brand’s visual representation, including the correct use of logos, colours, fonts, and other design elements.
Feedback integration and revision management: Incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders into design projects, making necessary revisions to meet project objectives and stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications and Experience

-Time management and organisation: Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
-Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders and clearly articulate design concepts.
-Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to new trends, technologies, and changes in project requirements.

Job Specific Competencies
-Proficiency in design software: Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects) and familiarity with other design tools such as Procreate, Canva, Adobe Express, and Figma
-Graphic design and typography: Strong foundation in graphic design principles, including layout, typography, and colour theory, with the ability to apply these principles to create compelling visual content.
-Creativity and innovation: Ability to think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphics, and layouts that engage and resonate with the target audience.

Desirable Competencies
-Motion graphics and animation: Knowledge of motion graphics and animation principles, with the ability to create engaging animated content for various digital platforms.
-UX/UI Design principles: Understanding of UX/UI design principles to enhance the user experience and interface of digital content, making it intuitive and user-friendly.
-Digital fundraising awareness: Basic understanding of digital marketing principles and how design influences user engagement and conversion rates.
-Photography and videography skills: Basic skills in photography and videography, including editing, to produce custom visuals for projects.
