Bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Zimbabwe have been warm and friendly. The relations were further strengthened with the establishment of the High Commission of Malaysia in Harare in 1988 and the High Commission of Zimbabwe in Kuala Lumpur in 1991. However, following Zimbabwe's withdrawal from the Commonwealth on 7 December 2003, both countries rebranded their Missions as embassies.
