The Gonarezhou Conservation Trust (GCT) is an innovative conservation partnership founded by the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority and the Frankfurt Zoological Society. The primary goal of GCT is the sustainable development and protection of Gonarezhou National Park. As part of the Gonarezhou Conservation Trust’s efforts to meaningfully engage with communities and build capacity around the Gonarezhou National Park, the Trust is launching a call for applications from candidates who are interested in developing skills as Learner Safari Guides.
The Trust seeks to select four (4) students who will be attached to GCT and will undergo training and work-related learning in preparation to write Learner Professional Hunter and Guide Exams in 2025. The training program will involve a combination of learning blocks by qualified Professional Guides and work-related learning.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend physical interviews and a short inhouse selection course, from where the final four (4) candidates will be chosen.
• Must originate from one of the five (5) Mpfhuka Areas around Gonarezhou National Park.
• Must be in possession of at least five (5) O-level passes including English (A-level is a distinct advantage).
• Ability to communicate well in English and one other local language.
• Show interest in becoming a guide and developing a career in the tourism industry.
• Be well presented, honest & reliable.
• Clean class 4 drivers license and added advantage.
