THEATRE NURSE (5 POSTS)
Reports to Theatre Sister in Charge
Job Summary
The Theatre Nurse is a registered nurse who provides high-quality patient care in the operating theatre environment. The Theatre Nurse works collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure safe and effective care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
-Assesses patients pre-operatively and identifies any potential risks or concerns.
-Develops and implements individualized care plans for patients.
-Ensures patients are properly prepared for surgery, including ensuring informed consent.
-Provides skilled nursing care during surgical procedures, maintaining a safe and aseptic environment.
-Assists the anesthetist and surgeon as required.
-Maintains accurate and detailed records of patient care during surgery.
-Provides post-operative care to patients, monitoring their recovery and managing any post-operative complications.
-Develops and implements individualized care plans for patients post-operatively.
-Ensures patients are properly prepared for discharge or transfer to another unit.
-Works collaboratively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthetists, and other nurses.
-Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
-Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and contributes to quality improvement initiatives.

Education
-Diploma in Theatre Nursing
Experience;
-At least 1 year
Skills
-Strong clinical skills and knowledge of peri operative nursing
-Ability to work effectively in a busy and dynamic environment
-Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Certification;
-Current registration with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe
