Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions that have arisen in the following Faculties within the University of Zimbabwe:

Department of Soil Sciences and Environment
Technician (Environmental Soil Physics)

Duties and Responsibilities

• To collect samples from a variety of sources (e.g. water, soil air plants), including utilizing proper sampling collection and handling techniques.
• To perform accurate and precise analyses of samples.
• To operate, maintain and calibrate analytical instruments and equipment.
• To use computer, spread sheets and data management systems for recordkeeping, reporting, and data analyses.
• To keep accurate and legible records.
• To undertake operational activities required to fulfil the requirements of the Environmental Plan.
• To prepare and supervise students practicals.
• To conduct environmental sampling, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
• To provide community outreach in the field of environmental soil physics.
• To initiate and implement research & development programs in the field of environmental soil physics.

Qualifications and Experience

• The candidate needs to have at least a BSc or HND in soil science, environmental soil physics or related field.
