SYSTEMS ENGINEER (SAP S/4 HANA DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR) FIXED TERM CONTRACT REF: Z/HHR03/01/2026
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Software Engineer, the successful candidate will be required to; • Lead or participate in the installation and configuration of SAP S/4 HANA systems. • Plan and execute system copy/refresh, client copy, and system conversion/upgrade projects. • Manage the entire lifecycle of the HANA database, from deployment to decommissioning. • Perform daily administrative tasks for SAP HANA databases, including monitoring, health checks, and system verification. • Proactively monitor and optimize HANA database performance using tools like HANA Studio, HANA Cockpit, and DBA Cockpit for SQL. • Analyse and troubleshoot performance issues (e.g. memory, CPU, and disk I/O bottlenecks). • Manage database sizing, capacity planning, and storage allocation. • Implement, manage, and regularly test High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies using System Replication and storage-based replication. • Carry out backup and recovery operations, ensuring they are completed successfully and meet the company's Recovery Point and Recovery Time Objectives (RPO/RTO). • Implement and maintain robust database security policies, including user management, roles, privileges, and auditing. • Perform regular security patching and system upgrades in line with SAP's maintenance strategy. • Ensure compliance with industry and corporate security standards (e.g., SOX, GDPR). • Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts (SQL, SQL Script, Linux shell) to improve efficiency. • Document system architectures, operational procedures, and configuration details. • Stay current with the latest SAP HANA technologies, features, and best practices. • Manage the SAP Correction and Transport System (CTS) to ensure all configuration and development objects are promoted properly. • Create Database interface with other system
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Computer Science/Higher National Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent • Proven experience as an SAP HANA DBA, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in administering SAP S/4 HANA systems in a production environment. • Strong expertise in SAP HANA administration, including backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security. • Solid understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery concepts for SAP HANA. • Membership of a recognized professional institution Special Attributes/Skills • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. • A strong commitment to quality and a continuous improvement mindset
