JOB SUMMARY
Midlands State University is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Student Development Assistant to join the dynamic Student Affairs team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting student success, enhancing campus life, and contributing to the personal and academic growth of students.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Reports to the Student Development Officer.
-Assist the Student Development Officer in implementing Student Engagement & Support.
-Provide advisory and guidance services to students for out-of-classroom activities.
-Assist in the administration of Campus Events and student activities.
-Assist with planning transport, accommodation, risk assessment, and supervision for student trips and aligned university events.
-Ensure proper record-keeping for regalia, equipment, and logistics used for student activities.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and handle responsibilities effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

-A first degree in Business studies, Social Sciences, or any other relevant field aligned to student support, development, welfare, and engagement functions.
-A minimum of two (2) years’ post-qualification working experience in a university or Tertiary Institution Student Affairs, with demonstrable exposure to student support services, student leadership, wellness, co-curricular activities, or student engagement programmes.
-Demonstrated experience in coordinating and supporting student programmes, leadership development initiatives, student clubs, associations, or extracurricular activities within a university or tertiary institution setting.
-Proven ability to engage and work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds, providing support that promotes student success, inclusion, wellbeing, and holistic development.
-Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to interact professionally with students, staff, parents, and external stakeholders.
-Excellent planning, coordination, report writing, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
