Applications are sought from qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Sports and Recreation Coordinator within the Student Affairs Division at Midlands State University.

Job Summary:
The Sports and Recreation Coordinator is tasked with overseeing sports and recreational activities at Midlands State University. This role plays a crucial part in shaping the student experience in terms of sports and recreation. Collaborating with the Dean of Students, the Coordinator provides leadership through essential student development, cultural, and sports programming. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, the Sports and Recreation Coordinator ensures the creation of a supportive and competitive sporting environment for MSU students.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Provide strategic leadership and management direction to the University in the realm of sports and recreation, aligning with the University Strategic Plan.
-Develop strategic and business plans, including annual work plans, performance contracts, budgets, and performance targets for the Sports and Recreation Department.
-Contribute to the marketing of Academy programs to industry and commerce.
-Ensure proper management, operational efficiency, corporate responsibilities, and expectations are met within the Sports Department.
-Direct and manage staff, property, equipment, and finances of the Sports Department effectively.
-Develop and manage the Sports Department by offering a diverse range of organized activities.
-Establish governance structures that uphold best practices in sport development, aiming to create a University Sports Academy.
-Implement a clear sport development program leading to sporting excellence.
-Foster collaboration and strategic partnerships with sports organizations, institutions, corporate entities, and government agencies.
-Ensure compliance with the National Sports Strategy.

Qualifications and Experience

-A Bachelor’s degree in Management/Sports Administration or a related field.
-Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a University or tertiary environment.
-A Master’s degree in the relevant discipline is an added advantage.
