POST A: SHE MANAGER

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director – Risk and Loss Control, the incumbent will be responsible for:
-Leading the Institution in the implementation of Safety, Health and Environment policies and standards.
-Developing and maintaining SHE system documentation.
-Ensuring compliance with the requirements of all key statutory stakeholders.
-Formulating and reviewing policies, procedures, plans, and measures for continual improvement.
-Monitoring contractors’ compliance with internal legal SHE standards and procedures.
-Initiating and organizing Occupational Safety Health and Environmental training of employees and managers.
-Periodically testing emergency preparedness equipment and reporting on its performance.
-Analyzing statistical trends and other leading indicators to assess the effectiveness of SHE programs
-Identifying hazards and unsafe work practices and providing recommendations on how to manage the hazards.
-Promoting environmental protection through identifying environmental aspects and impacts in the workplace and developing control methods, procedures, and programs to mitigate negative impacts.
-Conducting SHE audits, inspections, meetings, and incident management activities.
Selecting, training, and supervising SHE cadres (i.e., firefighters, SHE Reps, and first aiders)

Qualifications and Experience

-A degree in Safety, Health and Environment; Geography and Environmental Studies/ Science or Environmental Science and Health.
-A Master’s degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Management is an added advantage.
-Certificate in Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management (OSHEMAC) is a must.
-At least three years’ post-graduate working experience.
