The position of Regional Manager is a full-time job based at Tengenenge Art Centre, Guruve, as a member of the senior staff and, with the Executive Director and Deputy Director, provides artistic direction and coordination to the National Gallery of Zimbabwe’s Tengenenge programs. It requires enthusiasm and a passion for art in Zimbabwe. The Regional Manager is expected to be an active and visible member of the National, Regional and International art community, and to participate in the overall institutional advancement of the Gallery in Mashonaland Central and beyond.

Duties and Responsibilities

-The incumbent is expected to Provide leadership and overseeing implementation of the gallery vision, mission, goals and brand at Tengenenge in a way that is aligned to the overall gallery appearance, interaction and visitor experience;
-Exercise full administration of the Gallery in terms of staffing issues, sales, building maintenance issues, fundraising, outreach, public communication and programming;
-Works with staff and volunteers on projects to assure assigned areas of responsibility are understood and performed within the guidelines of the Gallery’s mission;
-Plays a pivotal role in expanding and diversifying the Gallery’s portfolio in the region and beyond, including building excellent relations with donors/sponsors;
-Develops and executes a marketing and strategic communications program for the Art Centre in support of the Gallery’s goals;
-Ensures the maintenance of the physical infrastructure condition and safety of the collections including environmental monitoring, conservation, security and emergency planning;
-Communicates the work, progress, challenges and outcomes of the regional programs to the Executive -Director of the Gallery on a monthly basis, covering strategy, finances and future plans;
-Establish better routes for communication to ensure NGZ seamless alignment in terms of exhibitions, gallery education and outreach programs, library, information and social media as well as financial and monthly reporting;
-Ensures the operations and administration of the regional gallery comply with the applicable state laws, policies and procedures of the Gallery;
-Perform Administrative role and Supervision of all activities at the centre though planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating daily operations;
-Prepare budgets and monitor revenues and expenses at the centre;
-Produce weekly, monthly and annual narrative and financial reports for all activities at the centre;
-Promotion and development of the arts at the centre through active engagement with all artists and varied stakeholders;
-Resource mobilization for funding of the arts and culture activities in the province liaising with the Head Office;
-Develop and maintain an up-to-date database of all artists at the centre;
-Develop and maintain an up-to-date register of all assets at the centre;
-Cooperate with Government and Local Authorities in all programmes and platforms concerning the arts in the area;
-Establish networks, linkages and partnerships with relevant stakeholders for a win-win outcome within the province in consultation with the Head Office; Organise artist capacitation workshops and seminars.

Qualifications and Experience

The candidate must be in possession of a minimum of the following:
-Degree in Fine Art, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies, Creative Art and Design and any such relevant qualification;
-Advanced degree in an Art or Heritage Studies or a MBA qualification would be an added advantage;
-Minimum of 3 years’ experience at management level in an Art or Museum institution, Experience working in a government setting will be an added advantage;
-A team player, highly skilled communicator with proven and outstanding negotiating skills;
-Be a highly target driven self- starter and have proven leadership capacity and experience;
-Good knowledge of Zimbabwe and African contemporary art;
-Good oral and written communication skills; self- motivation;
-initiative and ability to work as a team;
-Excellent problem solving, analytical and numerical abilities.
