The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is a globally recognized independent think tank committed to accelerating solutions for climate stability, sustainable resource management, and equitable economies. The Resilience Program at IISD focuses on multidisciplinary approaches to managing risks associated with climate change, biodiversity loss, and conflict.
The Position:
The Project Manager will oversee multi-million-dollar grants from Global Affairs Canada, contributing to climate adaptation in developing countries. The role involves managing projects, developing new initiatives, and supporting research and outreach. One of the projects under this role is the Climate Adaptation and Protected Areas (CAPA) Initiative, which aims to enhance climate resilience and biodiversity protection in protected areas across Belize, Fiji, and the Greater Virunga and Kavango-Zambezi landscapes.
-Manage initiatives and projects operationally, including work plan and budget development/adjustment, stakeholder communication, evaluation, and reporting.
-Track project finances, approve expenses, and ensure adherence to IISD’s policies.
-Plan and monitor timelines, milestones, and resource allocation using project management tools.
-Prepare contractor agreements and oversee deliverables and payments.
-Support event coordination, logistics, and team travel arrangements.
-Track project outputs and contribute data to IISD-wide budget planning processes.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
-Availability for international travel.
Knowledge and Experience:
-5+ years of experience in project management.
-Experience in international development, particularly in developing countries.
-Experience managing grants from Global Affairs Canada.
-Work experience in nature-based solutions, climate change adaptation, and/or conservation.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and web-based communications.
Skills:
-Organizational and planning skills, including coordination of meetings and events.
-Good communication skills with the ability to work interactively across different contexts.
-Fluent in written and spoken English; proficiency in French or Spanish is an asset.
-Analytical capacity and ability to quickly grasp new topics.
