A women’s rights organization dedicated to the full protection of women’s rights, eliminating discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and achieving gender equality seeks a highly motivated Project Assistant Officer to join its dynamic team of high-impact researchers and advocates.

About the organisation
The organisation is a local Chapter of a sub-regional network currently registered and operates as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO) in Zimbabwe. The network member countries are Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, and Zambia. In Zimbabwe, the organisation is present in all the ten provinces. The purpose of the network is to contribute to the sustained well-being of women and girl children through action-oriented research in the socio-legal field and advocating for women’s rights. The organisation’s work incorporates action into research by questioning and challenging the law, policies, and practices that discriminate against women and girls and believes in making the law work for women and girls, guided by human rights and feminist approaches that require supporting the voices, agency and empowerment of women and girls in all their diversity.

Duties and Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of the Programmes Coordinator , the Project Assistant Officer will provide technical and administrative support to the Projects Teams in the planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring of project activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Assistant will support the Projects Leads by performing the following tasks:
1. Coordinate with the Finance Team, Programmes Coordinator, and the other Component Team staff in the implementation of projects activities.
2. Coordinate with all project partners, including national government agencies, local government, academia, community and non- governmental organizations, media associations, and other groups in the implementation of projects activities.
3. Gather and consolidate data and relevant information needed in project planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation.
4. Assists programme officers in any administrative support for an effective implementation of component activities, including activity design preparation and execution.
5. Assists in the preparation of the needed technical and administrative reports required in the implementation of various projects and activities, including trainings, seminars, conferences, and meetings.
6. Assists and support the technical team in tracking the activity design, purchase request and other related task to support the activities.
7. Perform other tasks as may be designated by the Programmes Coordinator , Projects Leads and the National Director.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law or any related field.
• At least three (3) years’ experience in development work, project management, or related areas.
• Familiarity with implementing and/or monitoring development projects funded by donor-agencies;
• Able to relate with people of all backgrounds and manage multiple scenarios and priorities with tact, grace and good judgment.
• Must have excellent report-writing skills. Computer-literate, highly adept in computer programs and applications related to job demands.
• Team worker and independent self-starter.
• Easily adaptable and flexible to respond to demands of the job, with initiative and drive to achieve quality results.
• Willingness to work in difficult circumstances and to do field work in different cities within the country.
• Passionate and committed to working vulnerable women and girls .
