Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Assisting in the selection of appropriate suppliers and contractors;
Reviewing purchase requisitions orders in order to verify accuracy, terminology and correct specifications;
Promoting good procurement practices with due regard to sustainability, ethical purchasing standards and costing;
Comparing prices, specifications and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers;
Assisting in procurement of goods and services efficiently for the University;
Coordinating procurement activities within the department;
Sourcing quotations from service providers and placing of orders to obtain the best value for money;
Responding to customer and suppliers’ inquiries about order status, changes or cancellations;
Preparing and maintaining accurate records, reports and documentation relating to procurement activities;
Working with internal stakeholders to determine and finalising procurement needs, quality and delivery requirements; and
Performing any other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.
At least three (3) years of supply chain working experience in a reputable organisation;
High personal and professional integrity;
Good team player;
Computer literacy; and
Good report writing skills.

Qualifications and Experience

A Higher/National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Purchasing and Supply Management from a reputable body;
A professional qualification in Purchasing and Supply Management is an added advantage;
Membership of a Professional Board is an added advantage;
Knowledge of relevant Laws, Regulations and best practices in Procurement;
Proficiency in Procurement software and Microsoft office suite;
At least three (3) years of supply chain working experience in a reputable organisation;
High personal and professional integrity;
Good team player;
Computer literacy; and
Good report writing skills.
