PAYROLL OFFICER
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payments to all employees.
Input and maintain accurate employee data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay rates.
Ensure all payroll records are accurate and up-to-date, maintaining confidentiality of employee information.
Conduct regular reconciliations of payroll data with Pastel and other relevant financial systems to ensure accuracy.
Assist in resolving discrepancies and issues identified during reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with Zimbabwean labour laws, tax regulations, and university policies related to payroll.
Prepare and submit periodic payroll reports and statutory returns, including PAYE and NSSA contributions
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, benefits, and other related matters.
Work closely with the Human Resources department to ensure accurate employee records and timely updates regarding employment changes.
Collaborate on matters related to employee benefits, leave accruals, and other payroll-related issues.
Maintain organized and accurate payroll records and documentation in accordance with university policies and legal requirements.
Ensure that all payroll-related files are securely stored and easily accessible for audits and inquiries.
Performing medical aid reconciliations
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Accounting or Finance
At least 1 year post qualification experience in payroll processing.
A Certificate / Diploma in Payroll Administration would be an added advantage
Knowledge of Belina / Paywell system will be an added advantage
