Duties and responsibilities:
Patient Interaction:
Serve as the primary point of contact for patients seeking assistance with appointments, medical records, billing, and general inquiries
Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients and their families, ensuring their concerns are addressed promptly and effectively
Assist patients in navigating healthcare services, including providing information on available services and coordinating care
Appointment Scheduling:
Schedule and confirm patient appointments, coordinating with various departments to ensure availability and efficiency
Manage appointment cancellations, rescheduling, and follow-up appointments as needed
Billing and Insurance Assistance:
Answer patient inquiries related to billing, insurance coverage, and payment options
Assist patients in understanding their medical bills, insurance statements, and financial responsibility
Coordinate with the billing department to resolve any discrepancies or issues
Patient Records Management:
Assist patients with accessing their medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
Update patient information in the healthcare system accurately and promptly
Customer Service:
Handle patient complaints and concerns with empathy and professionalism, escalating issues to the appropriate department when necessary
Strive to create a positive experience for all patients, enhancing overall patient satisfaction
Collaboration:
Work closely with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care and communication
Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay informed of policy changes and best practices
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer service role, preferably within a healthcare setting
Familiarity with medical terminology, healthcare insurance, and patient billing is a plus
Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Proficient in using healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite
Empathy, patience, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly
