JOB TITLE: Paralegal Officer (Legal & Accounts)

Position Summary
We are seeking a mature, highly experienced Paralegal Officer with a strong accounting background to join our team. This role is crucial for managing our accounts receivable, from client onboarding to debt recovery. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional capable of handling sensitive financial negotiations and pursuing legal action confidently and effectively when necessary.
Accounts Management & Follow-ups:
•Manage a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
•Proactively conduct follow-ups on all outstanding invoices via phone, email, and formal letters of demand.
•Negotiate and structure payment plans with debtors, ensuring commitment and adherence.
•Handle the onboarding of new clients, including conducting thorough credit assessments and setting up new accounts.
Legal Action & Collections:
•Initiate and manage the entire legal process for debt recovery, from drafting summonses to enforcement of judgments.
•Liaise directly with external lawyers, the Sheriff's office, and other relevant parties to ensure the timely progression of legal matters.
•Represent the company in legal proceedings, such as small claims court, as required.
•Maintain meticulous records of all legal correspondence, court filings, and collection activities.
•Accounting Acumen: A strong, demonstrable background in accounting is essential. A formal qualification in accounting or bookkeeping will be a significant advantage.
•Legal Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the legal framework and civil procedures for debt collection in Zimbabwe.
•Personal Attributes:
oMaturity and Professionalism: Ability to handle difficult conversations and high-pressure situations with confidence and discretion.
oNegotiation Skills: Exceptional ability to negotiate settlements and payment terms effectively.
oSelf-Starter: Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
oOrganizational Skills: Superior attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
