Core purpose of the role
To provide quality repair timeously and as efficiently and effectively as possible. Responsible for providing exceptional customer service, restoring hail damaged vehicles back to original condition. Repair minor and major dents and door dings. Maintain a clean and safe work space. Perform other duties to assist the team, as assigned. Will be asked to be mobile at times for repairs.

Fetch Job Card and Car
Fetch the job card from the Workshop Supervisor and clock the job card on
Read the job card to determine work needing to be carried out
Check the number place matches what is on the job card
Inspect the car for any damage inside and outside prior to moving it
Check that seat covers, steering wheel cover, paper floor mats are fitted in car if needed.
Prepare to Repair Vehicle
Check that the vehicle has been correctly stripped before commencing repairs and report to Workshop Supervisor/Manager if not
Area not damaged or being worked on is covered with a welding blanket to prevent soiling, scratches or damage during repair process
Seats are removed where necessary to prevent soiling, scratches and damage during repair
Undamaged components (trim, panel and mechanical parts) removed during repair are stored in a marked bin (use vehicle registration number) to avoid damage or soiling

Repair Vehicle
Fetch parts from the stores
Ensure that proper safety clothing is worn i.e. welding gloves, welding helmet, safety glasses, dust masks, safety boots
No work to be carried out unless a valid job card is produced for the vehicle
Check the vehicle as per the job card
Do body repair as per the job card - obtain authorisation before additional work is done
Use special tools as and when required
Report any additional work to be carried out to the Workshop Supervisor/Manager
Report any delays to the Workshop Manager/Supervisor
Carry out work as per manufacturer specification e.g. Repair with correct tooling, body panels and procedures, correct bench and measuring system to be used, no short cuts, no excessive use of body filler, sundries used to be minimised, checking of gaps and alignment of parts e.g. bumpers, lights to be fitted and signed off by Workshop Manager/Supervisor before going to paint shop.
Complete Job Cards
Check job card on receipt - check registration number of vehicle to job card
Clock job card on
Overtime to be verified at all times
Clock job card off - clock off and on for breaks or parts shortage problems
Record name and signature on the job card
Keep job card neat and tidy
Hand job card over to the workshop supervisor/manager to be signed off
Ensure manufacturer standards and procedures are adhered to for warranty work.
Check Quality
Inspect vehicle for quality of work as per manufacturer specification prior to handover to paint shop
Check that all work is carried out as per job card before handover to paint shop
Make sure area work on vehicle is clean
No unnecessary parts left in vehicle - must be placed in stores.

Ensure understanding and knowledge of targets
Ensure targets are met at all times
Report any unexpected delays to minimise downtime.
Academic Qualifications
Essential:
Matric
Trade Certificate.
Note: This role may require working flexible hours and overtime. Physical fitness and strength to meet physical requirements of the role.
Work Experience
Essential:
Must have at least 2 Years Experience as PDR Technician.
