British American TobaccoZimbabwe has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager in Harare!

In the role of Operations Manager you will be responsible to Lead and handle factory and SC teams to successfully achieve all production and quality targets. You will run and improve results necessary to achieve the Compelling Business Need (CBN) and Site Master Plan through meticulous application of Integrated work systems (IWS) tools. You will also optimize the use of people raw material and equipment to further improve department productivity and flexibility.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Lead and manage factory teams to successfully achieve all production and quality targets.
-24-hour accountability for all Daily Management Systems (DMS), and organizational health of their lines. They are responsible for managing and improving results necessary to achieve the Compelling Business Need (CBN) and Site Master Plan through rigorous application of Integrated work systems (IWS) tools.
-Optimize the use of people, raw material and equipment to further improve department productivity and flexibility.
-Quality; ensuring quality targets are met, consumer comments are responded to and detailed action plans to ensure resolution of problems.
-Together with Production Engineering ensure the appropriate planning of preventative maintenance
Coordination with the Engineering department of investment projects as required.
-Waste i.e. material/ tobacco/ process waste is managed appropriately with YOY reduction
Ensuring EH&S policies and procedures are adhered to within area of responsibility (e.g. SMD, PMD)

Qualifications and Experience

-Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
-5 years+ experience in manufacturing at middle and senior management.
-Experience in spares management, machine acquisitions, installations, and management.
-People, project, organisational change.
-Continuous improvement programmes to inspire change.
-Effective communication and interpersonal skills
-Excellent analytical skills and computer literate
