job Description

FAO's Subregional Office for Southern Africa (SFS) in Harare, Zimbabwe, is currently seeking qualified and experienced individuals for the position of National Professional Officer (Administration). The successful candidate will contribute to the organization's strategic framework by supporting the transformation of efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agrifood systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Provide effective and efficient administrative support to the FAO Subregional Office's program and project activities.
-Plan, organize, and coordinate the office's administrative services.
-Support the implementation of FAO collaborative programs and ensure periodic monitoring of their implementation.
-Manage and supervise the administrative team.
-Review and analyze data from various sources, including FAO's corporate systems and databases.
-Prepare reports, financial and budgetary estimates for projects, and oversee budgetary allocations.
-Monitor the compliance with the organization's security guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

-National of Zimbabwe.
-Advanced university degree in a field related to business or public administration.
-Two years of relevant experience in office management, administration, accounting, and/or audit, budget, or finance.
-Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of English.
-Working knowledge of the local language.

Technical/Functional Skills:
-Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable.
-Extent and relevance of experience in the field of office management and administration, including supervisory experience.
-Knowledge of UN or standard operational rules and procedures and project/programme administrative management procedures.
-Knowledge of FAO's corporate systems and database or other accounting or financial modules relevant to accounting procedures or project budget management would be considered an asset.
-Demonstrated analytical and judgment skills and ability to apply rules and regulations in the subject field.
