MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Duties and Responsibilities

-Plan, supervise, and coordinate the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of heavy mining and mineral processing equipment.
-Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes.
-Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical faults to minimize equipment downtime.
-Supervise maintenance teams during plant shutdowns, equipment overhauls, and commissioning activities.
-Ensure the efficient operation of crushers, vibrating screens, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, and other processing plant equipment.
-Monitor equipment performance and recommend engineering improvements to enhance productivity and reliability.
-Prepare engineering reports, maintenance schedules, technical documentation, and equipment performance analyses.
-Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and engineering standards.
-Coordinate with mining, production, electrical, and processing departments to achieve production targets.
-Train and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and artisans.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
-At least five (5) years of relevant experience in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or a related sector.
-Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance systems, rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mineral processing machinery.
-Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
-Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to work under pressure in a demanding mining environment.

Desired Competencies
-Experience with crushers, conveyors, pumps, vibrating screens, mills, and other mineral processing equipment.
-Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and -Microsoft Office applications.
Strong planning and project management skills.
-Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
