We are looking for a skilled Junior Cook to prepare meals according to the menu. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and adept at multitasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our clientele. Culinary students and graduates can apply as part of our internship and on-the-job training. You must present either an enrollment letter or a diploma.
This is a 12-month employment program in the US under a J1 professional exchange visa.

The U.S.A. J-1 Training Program is a cultural exchange program by the U.S. Department of State that gives students, recent graduates, and young professionals from around the world the opportunity to come to the U.S. and share their culture and ideas with Americans while receiving in-depth Culinary training in the best hotels and resorts throughout the United States for up to 12 months.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

WHAT ARE THE CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS?

You are currently enrolled in a Culinary diploma or degree, and your local government recognizes your college.
OR
You have graduated from a Culinary diploma or degree in the past 12 months
OR
You have graduated from a Culinary diploma or degree program longer than 12 months ago and have 12 months of full-time work experience in the Culinary Arts outside the United States.
OR
You have at least 5 years of full-time work experience in the Culinary industry.

Anyone who meets ONE of the above criteria might be eligible for the USA program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Set up workstations with all the needed ingredients and cooking equipment
Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
Cook food in various utensils or grillers
Check food while cooking to stir or turn
Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
Check the quality of ingredients.
Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages.

Qualifications and Experience

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

Proven experience as a cook
Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
Ability to work in a team
Excellent communication skills and physical condition
High school diploma or equivalent;
A diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage

Compensation is $15 an hour with an average of 40 hours per week
