Mission and objectives
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is the lead United Nations agency for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights with a priority focus on women and young people.The overall vision of the new 8th Country Programme (2022-2026) is to improve the health and well-being of women, young people; vulnerable and marginalized groups in Zimbabwe by ensuring universal access to quality integrated SRHR information and services in an enabling environment. This will contribute to the attainment of the three transformative results in UNFPA’s Global Strategic Plan: Zero unmet need for family planning, Zero preventable maternal deaths, Zero gender-based violence, and the East and Southern Africa regional priority of ending sexual transmission of HIV.
Context
The UNV will support implementation of UNFPA Zimbabwe’s country programme particularly contributing to the success of Outcome 1-Output 2 which focuses on “adolescents and young people, including vulnerable groups, are equipped with knowledge and skills to participate in decision-making and make informed decisions on SRHR.” In this context, the UNV will support the implementation of innovative and sustainable interventions that will contribute to building resilience to shocks for women and girls in Zimbabwe, He/she will participate in and contribute towards the integration of programme interventions both at national and community levels.
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Analyst, Adolescents and Youth, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Supports programme implementation and integration
● Support the collaboration with Implementing Partners (IPs) in the formulation and implementation of Annual Workplans (AWPs) in line with Government priorities and according to UNFPA programme policies and procedures.
● Analyse and report on programme and project progress in terms of achieving results, donor commitments and expectations.
● Supports monitoring of project expenditures and disbursements to ensure delivery is in line with approved budgets.
● Raise requisitions for relevant travels and procurement.
● Supports harmonized implementation of adolescents and youth, community, and gender and GBV interventions.
● Support integration of megatrends in youth programming- climate change and digitization
● Participate and represent UNFPA in government, IP, UN and other meetings.
Supports innovation, advocacy and resource mobilization efforts
● Assists in identifying and implementing innovations/ new ways of working better to improve programme support and delivery for adolescents and youth.
● Participates in scanning for resource mobilisation opportunities and contributes to developing concept notes and proposals.
● Documents best practices, lessons learnt for internal and external sharing.
Support the Empowerment of women and girls and the Engagement of Men and Boys (EMB),
● Contributes to the design and implementation of appropriate and innovative economic empowerment initiatives for women and girls, ensuring effective partnerships, building on existing community systems and structures.
● Assists with designing, implementation and monitoring of sustainable and effective Menstrual Health Management (MHM) programming
● Assists in MHM coordination and knowledge sharing with relevant stakeholders and platforms.
● Supports implementation of age-appropriate disability inclusive Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) interventions in schools and the community.
● Participates in analysis of existing men and boys’ engagement programmes/ activities
● Assists in developing new models and ideas for men and boys’ engagement.

Skills and experience
-Demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to two years in development and/or humanitarian work covering adolescent sexual reproductive health and rights Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
