Midlands State University is inviting applications for the position of International and Alumni Relations Manager within the Division of Student Affairs. This senior academic post reports to the Executive Dean of Student Affairs and requires a candidate with a deep understanding of international student recruitment, alumni engagement, and resource mobilization activities. The incumbent should be passionate about fostering international connections, building lifelong relationships, and contributing to the internationalization of higher education.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Recruit international students through various channels, including brand ambassadors, recruitment agents, embassies, recruitment drives, fairs/expos, conferences/events, and official MSU social media platforms.
-Facilitate international communication and interactions between MSU and international partners through the development of MOUs and MOAs across departments and faculties.
-Enhance the international student experience through tourism activities, cultural immersion, trips, ceremonies, celebrations, and exhibitions.
-Coordinate immigration, admission, and registration processes for international students, adhering to policies.
-Mobilize partnerships with the MSU Alumni community and coordinate Alumni programs such as Business Expos.
-Monitor the Alumni database and maintain the list of subscriptions.
-Evaluate and implement MOUs, MOAs, collaborations, and partnerships with international stakeholders.
-Build strong relationships with Alumni stakeholders through participation in MSU activities and events.
-Maintain an up-to-date international student database and oversee the International Student Bridging Programme.
-Source international scholarship funding for international students, including refugees.
-Service the International and Alumni Relations Committee and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
-Engage in research and identify collaboration opportunities with international institutions.
-Perform any other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

-A good first degree in Social Sciences, preferably in International Relations, Political Science, or Public Administration.
-Relevant master's degree.
-A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
-At least 3 years of proven working experience in international relations, alumni engagement, or related roles.
-Knowledge of immigration processes will be an added advantage.

-Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
-Innovative and result-oriented.
-Ability to build friendly but professional rapport with international students and University Alumni.
-Capability to spearhead and mobilize partnerships with the MSU Alumni community.
-Cultural sensitivity and experience working with an internationally diverse student and staff population.
-Techno-savvy with experience in using digital platforms for communication and engagement.
-Ability to work collaboratively and build strong working relationships.
