The Audit Clerk is responsible for conducting audits, evaluating risks, and implementing loss control measures to ensure compliance with regulations and organizational policies. This position requires a combination of analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform regular audits on financial records, invoices, and operational processes to ensure accuracy and compliance;
Investigate discrepancies in financial transactions and report findings to management;
Review cash handling procedures and balance cash registers against sales reports;
Identify potential risks within the organization by analysing data from various departments;
Develop risk mitigation strategies and implement safety programs to reduce incidents of loss or injury;
Collaborate with management to evaluate existing policies and recommend improvements;
Assist in the development of loss control initiatives aimed at minimizing financial losses due to fraud or operational inefficiencies;
Monitor compliance with University SOPs;
Analyse data and operational reports to identify trends that may indicate potential risks or areas for improvement;
Prepare detailed reports summarizing audit findings, risk assessments, and recommendations for management review;
Liaise with internal departments such as finance, operations, to gather information necessary for audits and risk assessments;
Maintain accurate records of audits conducted, findings reported, and actions taken in response to identified risks;
Assist in the preparation of documentation required for regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience
Higher National Diploma or Degree in Auditing, Accounting, Risk Management or equivalent;
Part CIA, ACCA Part C, Part CIS and IIA membership would be an added advantage;
At least one (1) year in the internal audit environment;
Knowledge of auditing software compatible with Pastel Accounting;
Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy;
Unquestionable integrity, trustworthy and self-motivated, reliable and efficient;
Ability to work as an individual and as a member of a team.
