UNICEF Zimbabwe seeks to hire a passionate and dedicated -Social & Behavior Change Officer for their Social and Behavior Change Team. The SBC Officer NO-2 Level plays a key role in providing both technical and operational support for the design and implementation of evidence-based, systematic SBC strategies. A major focus of this role is to collaborate with the Ministry of Health and Child Care and the Expanded Programe on Immunization to promote demand for immunization and health services and enhance community engagement.
Purpose for the job:
Under the supervision of the SBC Manager P4, and with the technical guidance of the Chief of Health, and in close coordination with sectoral and cross-sectoral programme specialists, contributes to/responsible for the design, management, monitoring and evaluation of evidence-based, inclusive and innovative SBC strategies in support of the country programme.
Summary of key functions/accountabilities:
-Supporting the integration of SBC strategies into program development, planning, and implementation.
-Developing and implementing evidence-based demand promotion initiatives.
-Strengthening partnerships and facilitating collaboration between UNICEF Zimbabwe and SBC stakeholders.
-Enhancing community engagement through the creation of feedback mechanisms and analysis of social and behavioral data.
-Empowering communities and stakeholders to drive measurable social and behavioral change, contributing to improved child health, survival, and well-being.
-Through strategic communication, engagement, and partnership-building, the SBC Officer ensures the alignment of interventions with community needs and supports the achievement of sustainable development outcomes for children across Zimbabwe
Education:
-A university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in social and behavioral science, including sociology, anthropology, communication studies/communication for development, psychology and/or related field is required.
Work Experience:
-A minimum of two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: social development programme planning, communication for development or social and behavior change, public advocacy or another related area.
-Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.
Language Requirements:
-Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a local language is an asset.
Desirables:
-Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
