Position Overview:
As a hydraulic engineer, you will be responsible for assessing the water flow patterns and behaviour around the dam to create effective drainage systems to insure the stability of the dam structures.
Here are some key duties:
-Designing Hydraulic Systems: Creating systems for water distribution, flow control, and drainage to ensure the dam operates effectively.
-Conducting Hydrological Studies: Analyzing water flow patterns, rainfall data, and other hydrological factors to inform design and construction decisions.
-Developing Flood Control Measures: Implementing strategies to manage and mitigate flood risks, including spillways and outlet structures.
-Collaborating with Other Engineers: Working closely with civil, structural, and environmental engineers to ensure integrated and efficient dam operations.
-Monitoring Construction: Overseeing the installation of hydraulic systems and ensuring they are built according to design specifications.
-Performing Safety Assessments: Conducting safety analyses to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
-Environmental Compliance: Ensuring that all hydraulic designs and operations comply with environmental regulations and standards.
-Maintenance Planning: Planning for the long-term maintenance and upkeep of hydraulic systems to ensure their continued functionality.
-Emergency Response: Being prepared to respond to emergencies, such as dam breaches or unexpected water flow issues.
-Reporting and Documentation: Preparing detailed reports on hydraulic system performance, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered.
-Professional Experience: Several years of experience in drainage systems design and construction is often necessary.
-Technical Skills: Proficiency in drainage design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, or similar tools.
-Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee projects from planning to completion.
-Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with stakeholders.
-Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local, state, and federal drainage regulations and standards.
-Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex drainage issues.
-Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as those from professional engineering organizations, can be beneficial.
-Minimum 4 years of working experience in Civil /mechanical engineering , with a strong focus on construction applications.
