job Description

The Human Rights and Humanitarian Assistance Specialist, reporting to the Program Specialist (Gender and Child Rights), provides operational and administrative support to country office sectors, ensuring gender and child rights are integrated into all programs. The focus is on skills development and innovation for the realization of the rights of children, adolescents, and youths in collaboration with UNICEF partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities

Support to Programme Development and Planning:
-Contribute to the update of the situation analysis for the program sector/s.
-Support the establishment and scaling up of sectoral gender and rights-related activities.
-Provide technical and operational support throughout programming processes.

Programme Management, Monitoring, and Delivery of Results:
-Plan, implement, evaluate, and report on Human Rights and Humanitarian Assistance initiatives.
-Monitor, support, and report on the progress of gender and human rights as cross-cutting issues.
-Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises and program reviews.

Operational and Administrative Support to Programme Implementation and Review:
-Keep records of reports and assessments.
-Contribute to the preparation of regular/mandated Gender and PSEA tasks and reports.
-Conduct regular field visits and surveys to assess progress and provide technical support.

Networking and Partnership Building:
-Support the building of effective working partnerships with relevant sector government counterparts and national stakeholders.
-Draft and review communication and information materials for program advocacy.

Qualifications and Experience

3 years of experience in programming on Human/Child Rights or advocacy work.
Relevant experience working in a multicultural setup is an added advantage.
Area(s) of Expertise:

Development programs, Health, Community development.
Language:

Fluent in English (required).
Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any of the following fields: Family Health and Life Sciences, International Development, Sociology, Social Work, Development Studies, Law, or any relevant field.
