UNICEF Zimbabwe seeks to hire a passionate and dedicated Health Specialist (Primary Health Care) for their Health team. The Health Specialist (Primary Health Care) reports to the Chief of Health for guidance and general supervision.
Purpose for the job:
Under the supervision of the Chief of Health, the Health Specialist is responsible for ensuring full integration of all pillars in the programme, managing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on the progress within the country programme. S/He is accountable for the effective technical support to programme, in development and review/updating of national policies, guidelines, and protocols to facilitate primary health care platform revitalization. Moreover, the Health Specialist (PHC) provides technical guidance to the whole team, throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable results according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), organizational strategic plans and goals, standards of performance, and accountability framework.

Education
-An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health/nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology, or another relevant technical field.
Work Experience:
-A minimum of five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, community health, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
Language Requirements
-Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a local language is an asset.
Desirables:
-Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
-Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
