Plan International, a global independent development and humanitarian organization that champions children’s rights and equality for girls, is inviting applications for the pivotal role of Head of IT – Southern Africa. This strategic leadership position offers the opportunity to shape and enhance IT systems and infrastructure across Plan International offices in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, and Zambia.

About the Role
Reporting directly to the Country Director of the host country, the Head of IT will be responsible for steering the IT strategy and ensuring operational excellence in IT service delivery across the four Southern African countries. This role is instrumental in fostering a customer-centric digital environment, ensuring value-for-money IT investments, and implementing a shared services model that supports the organization’s broader mission to advance children’s rights and gender equality.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Leading strategic IT governance and alignment with organizational goals.
-Driving efficient and sustainable IT investments with clear returns.
-Ensuring robust, secure, and scalable IT infrastructure.
-Embedding a culture of excellent customer-focused IT service management.
-Facilitating knowledge sharing and replication of best practices regionally.
-Developing IT talent and building high-performing regional teams.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field, with at least seven years of professional experience, including a minimum of three years in a managerial position. Additional certifications in IT or management will be advantageous.

Candidates should demonstrate:
-Strong technical expertise in IT infrastructure, applications, and database administration.
-Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows, SQL Server, Exchange Server, and communication technologies.
-Proficiency in project management and IT service delivery.
-Familiarity with Plan International’s business processes is an asset.
-Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Portuguese is a distinct advantage.
-Excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a collaborative leadership approach.
