Job Description A leading automotive/haulage truck company based in Harare is urgently seeking to recruit 5 experienced Hands-On Class 1 Mechanics to join its team. The ideal candidates must be highly skilled, practical and hands-on mechanics with more than 5 years of relevant experience, preferably gained working for renowned haulage truck companies. The successful candidates will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and other haulage vehicles to ensure they remain safe, reliable and operational.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance of heavy-duty trucks and haulage vehicles. -Diagnose mechanical faults and identify the causes of vehicle problems. -Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on trucks. -Repair and replace faulty mechanical components. -Inspect engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension systems and other mechanical components. -Carry out engine repairs and overhauls where required. -Identify mechanical problems and recommend appropriate corrective action. -Perform regular vehicle inspections and safety checks. -Ensure trucks are maintained in good working and roadworthy condition. -Respond to mechanical breakdowns and carry out necessary repairs. -Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime. -Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing and maintenance work. -Work closely with auto electricians, drivers and other workshop personnel. -Follow workshop safety procedures and company maintenance standards. -Ensure all repairs are completed to a high standard and within required timeframes.
Qualifications and Experience
-Class 1 Mechanic qualification/trade certificate. -More than 5 years' experience as a mechanic. -Strong hands-on experience working on haulage trucks/heavy-duty vehicles. -Previous experience with renowned haulage truck companies will be highly relevant. -Strong knowledge of truck mechanical systems. -Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults independently. -Experience in the automotive/haulage industry is essential. -Good understanding of preventive and corrective vehicle maintenance. -Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. -Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. -Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team. -Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and professional standards.
