Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following post that have arisen in the University: DEPARTMENT: AGRO-INDUSTRIAL PARK GENERAL MANAGER, AGRO-INDUSTRIAL PARK (1 POST) REPORTS TO THE VICE CHANCELLOR

Duties and Responsibilities

▪ Designing and implementing strategies for the Agro-Industrial Park, policy formulation and development action plans in an effort to improve business performance.
▪ Managing and coordinating Agro-Industrial Park operations through effective crop and livestock production planning to ensure that set targets are achieved.
▪ Overseeing the recruitment and selection of Agro-Industrial Park employees, managing employees’ contracts of employment, employee orientation, staff training, salary administration, performance management, handling staff disciplinary matters, and managing employees’ well-being and welfare needs.
▪ Overseeing Agro-Industrial Park employees and Intern’s work schedules and ensuring that timecards are prepared for all employees.
▪ Responsible for the management of the Unit’s financial resources by practicing good financial planning through setting budgets and production targets and maintaining up-to-date financial records.
▪ Recommending the purchase of Agro-Industrial machinery, equipment, supplies and other materials needed for the smooth running of the Unit.
▪ Ensuring compliance with procurement processes and procedures.
▪ Maintaining a computerised inventory of Agro-Industrial Park machinery, equipment, supplies and materials as well as maintain records of AgroIndustrial Park produce stock for both crops and livestock.
▪ Overseeing the maintenance for Agro-Industrial Park machinery and equipment and the security and safety of Agro-Industrial Park infrastructure.
▪ Assisting Academic Departments in the training of Agricultural sciences students in various practical aspects of Agro-Industrial Park operations and contribute effectively to teaching, research and community outreach activities.
▪ Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
▪ Keeping abreast with developments and trends in the Agricultural sector.
▪ Undertaking any other related duties as may be delegated by the Executive Director, Innovation and Industrialisation.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must at least have an earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture or related discipline from a recognised Institution, a Master’s Degree in Crop Science or equivalent is an added advantage, at least 5 years’ post qualification experience managing a commercial farm or Agro-Industrial entity and must be computer literacy. This is a performance based two (2) year contract renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
