Organizational Setting
FAO's Subregional Office for Southern Africa (SFS) is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing, and implementing agreed strategies for addressing subregional food, agriculture, and rural development priorities. It develops and maintains relations with subregion-wide institutions, including Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs). The Subregional Office for Southern Africa (SFS) is a subsidiary of the Regional Office for Africa (RAF).

Technical/Functional Skills:
-Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions.
-Extent and relevance of experience in collecting and analyzing technical information and data.
-Extent and relevance of knowledge and experience in related fields such as fisheries.
-Extent and relevance of experience in the preparation, editing, and revision of technical/scientific documents and in organizing meetings and workshops.
-Extent and relevance of experience in working with scientific bibliographic databases and/or information systems.
-FAO staff are expected to adhere to FAO Values of Commitment to FAO, Respect for All, and Integrity and Transparency.

Qualifications and Experience

-Advanced university degree in fisheries, aquaculture, natural resource development, or other relevant marine or aquatic sciences, with a specialization in fisheries and aquaculture governance, management, development, economics, or related fields.
-Three years of relevant experience in one of the following: fisheries/aquaculture management, development, or governance; statistics or data collection systems of aquatic resources; trade, safety and quality, or development of aquatic foods.
-Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
