The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial management functions by ensuring accurate financial records, effective budget control, compliance with financial regulations, and timely financial reporting. The role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and supporting management decision-making.
Manage day-to-day financial operations, including processing payments, receipts, and journal entries
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in line with accounting standards and organizational policies
Develop, monitor, and update budgets; track expenditure against approved budgets
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders
Manage bank accounts, perform regular bank reconciliations, and handle cash flow monitoring
Ensure timely payment of statutory obligations (taxes, pensions, NSSA, etc.)
Support procurement processes by reviewing financial documentation and ensuring value for money
Maintain proper filing and documentation for audits and donor compliance
Assist with internal and external audits, providing required financial information
Ensure compliance with donor requirements, financial regulations, and internal controls
Monitor grants and project finances, ensuring funds are used according to agreements
Support payroll processing and staff reimbursements
Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions
Provide financial advice to management to support decision-making
Supervise junior finance staff or provide support where applicable
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Part-qualified or qualified professional accounting certification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is an added advantage
Minimum of 4 years experience in a finance or accounting role
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
