Palpo Technologies is a strategic business unit, owned and operated by Bindura University of Science Education, is a strategic initiative aimed at advancing Zimbabwe’s technological competitiveness. It owns Palpo Technologies Assembly plant which specializes in the manufacture and assembly of various electronic devices including laptops, feature phones, smartphones, and tablets, thereby contributing to national industrialization and digital transformation.
The Finance Manager will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and ensuring sound financial management of the Assembly Plant.
1. Financial Planning & Strategy
o Develop and implement financial policies, systems, and controls aligned with university and plant objectives.
o Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support operational and strategic decision-making.
o Offer advice to the CFO and CEO regarding spending and budget questions
2. Financial Management & Reporting
o Oversee preparation of accurate financial statements, management accounts, and statutory reports.
o Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and government financial policies.
o Monitor cash flow, working capital, and investment strategies.
3. Cost Control & Efficiency
o Implement cost management systems to optimize production and operational efficiency.
o Analyze trends to reduce financial risks associated with making investment or spending decisions and recommend mitigation strategies
4. Governance & Compliance
o Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit requirements, and procurement regulations.
o Liaise with auditors, regulators, and stakeholders on financial matters.
5. Leadership & Capacity Building
o Supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
o Provide financial insights to management and council for strategic planning.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance,
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalence.
• A Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management, preferably in FMCG, manufacturing, technology, or higher education institutions.
• Proven track record of handling large budgets,
• Experience in managing teams and implementing financial systems.
Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent understanding of IPSAS Financial Reporting Framework
• thorough understanding of tax laws, and Zimbabwean financial regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
