Hivos is inviting applications for the position of Finance Intern based in Harare, Zimbabwe. The Finance Intern will collaborate with the Finance Team, contributing significantly to cash management, payment processing, and adherence to Hivos financial management and accountability guidelines. The role involves accounting clerical tasks and other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Finance Intern will assist the accountant in the following duties: -Process payments from different units, ensuring timely payment, completeness of supporting documents, and accuracy of banking instructions. -Post data to the accounting system. -Produce and distribute a weekly bank balance schedule. -Follow up on invoices and receipts, ensuring mathematical accuracy. -Maintain petty cash float, ensuring timely disbursement and replenishments. -Assist in internal and external audits by ensuring required documents and receipts are available. -Orderly filing of documents in the finance department. -Prepare journal vouchers. -Liaise with project staff for the liquidation and reconciliation of advances. -Assist in report preparation.
Qualifications and Experience
-Bachelor of Accountancy or Bachelor of Commerce or its recognized equivalent. -Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). -Strong analytical, numerical, and mature problem-solving skills. -Ability to adapt easily to changing needs and patterns of work. -Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. -Good team player with a positive attitude, flexibility in a multi-cultural setting. -Strong sense of ethics, integrity, credibility, and respect for diversity. -Effective communication skills with staff and management, demonstrating diplomacy and firmness.
