Caritas Mutare is the development arm of the Catholic Church, diocese Mutare. It identifies with other Catholic Development agencies and provides a beacon of hope for tens of millions of women, men and children in times of hardship and contributes to the development of social justice in times of peace; working with people to bring about positive changes in some of the poorest provinces in Zimbabwe. The agency’s mandate includes integral human development, emergency relief, advocacy, peace building, respect for human rights, and support for proper stewardship of the planet’s environment and resources. Caritas Zimbabwe’s work is its ongoing presence in communities, before, during and after crisis situations as it empowers people to participate more fully in all matters affecting their lives, as well as advocates on their behalf at national and international forums.

Primary Functions
The primary role of the Field Officer is to monitor and supervise the day-today distributions of food and Non-Food Items (NFIs) and livelihood projects within the district as well as to solve problems encountered during operations. S/he will foster good relations with local officials in charge of the project to facilitate the smooth implementation of the project in the district.

Special Responsibilities
Work in closely with the DF, local leadership and data capturers in the implementation of the project; Liaise with the DF to ensure sufficient deliveries to the district and conduct proper targeting; Ensure that the food and other donations, reach their intended targets; Ensure prompt preparation and submission of all reports required; Collecting quality and valid data as required by the DF; Attend meetings at district and ward level as assigned by the DF; Liaise with Data Capture Clerks and Volunteers on quality data related issues; Assist in monitoring the program with an aim to identify more beneficiaries within and beyond the current districts; Assist in the facilitation processes of selection of new project beneficiaries; Supervise the day-to-day running of the programme; Any other duties as may be assigned by the DF.

The ideal candidate should have
Good oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and liaison skills, should be assertive and driven, a self-motivator who pays particular attention to detail; A relevant Social Science Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in a relevant field; 1 or more years’ experience in Relief/emergence and development Projects; Good command of the English and vernacular language(s) is essential; Clean class 3/4 drivers licence is an added advantage; Computer literate with professional knowledge of Spread sheets, Microsoft Office and Outlook Suite applications including Microsoft Excel and Word; Understands Catholic social teachings and be able to work in a faith based setting; Ability to ride a Motorcycle; Fully computer literate with professional knowledge of spread sheets application software including Microsoft Excel and Word as well as other statistical packages such as SPSS would be an added advantage; Ability to meet deadlines; Should be willing to work in remote areas; Effectively coordinates actions with team members.
