STAFF VACANCY

MIDLANDS STATE UNIVERSITY AGROBUSINESS DIVISION
POST: FARM MANAGERS (X3)
Reporting to the Director Agrobusiness Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing farm staff, implementing agricultural practices, and ensuring the farm’s productivity and profitability. The farm manager will work on site at the farm, with occasional office work. This is a performance-based full-time job opportunity where individuals will be posted at any of our farms.
-Overseeing daily farm operations, including land preparation, planting, irrigation, pest control, livestock welfare management, harvesting, etc.
-Develop and implement farm budgets, analyse farm performance to ensure profitability and resource efficiency.
-Manage crop rotations, schedules, and animal husbandry plans to maximise yields and promote sustainable agricultural production.
-Maintain farm equipment and infrastructure, scheduling regular maintenance and repairs to prevent breakdowns and ensure operational efficiency.
-Supervise staff, including training and performance evaluation.
-Keeping and maintaining accurate records of farm activities, including yields, livestock health, and financial performance.
-Ensure compliance with safety regulations, labour laws, and environmental standards.
-Monitor market trends and commodity prices to make informed decisions on planting, selling, and purchasing supplies.
-At least a Diploma in Agriculture
-A Degree in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science or Agronomy is an added advantage.
-At least 5 years’ experience in commercial farm management.
-Experience in export-oriented agricultural production is a distinct advantage.
-Familiarity with operating and repairing farm equipment and machinery is an added advantage.
-A clean class 4 driver’s license is a MUST
