Duties and Responsibilities

 Plan, Implement and evaluate Environmental Health activities in areas of operation.
 Conducting participatory Health and Hygiene education sessions in area of operation.
 Analysing vital statistics at Health centers and investigating cases of communicable diseases identified and notified within the community.
 Maintaining TB registers including contact tracing of defaulters, absconders follow-ups, MDR
monitoring and follow-ups and ensuring that collection and transportation of sputum to laboratories is done.
 Carrying out business premises inspections, institutional inspections and recommend accordingly.
 Conducting food premises inspections including swabbing, collection of food samples and meat samples for laboratory testing.
 Updating the food handlers register, investigation of food poisoning outbreaks and food borne infections.
 Planning and supervising rodent and vermin control activities in areas of operation.
 Conducting Environmental assessments and coming up with innovative plans that enable sustainable management of the Environment.
 Active surveillance of the City’s drinking water supplies through water sampling.
 Monitoring solid, liquid and gaseous waste to minimize land, water and air pollution.
 Enforcement of Public Health Laws, other related laws and City by-laws to offenders.
 Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor
