A researcher seeks motivated and detail-oriented enumerators to join a team to undertake a data collection project focused on small businesses operating within the informal economy. This research aims to understand informal small businesses' challenges, opportunities and dynamics.
A maximum of four days (three days in the field maximum) expected 21- 28 August 2024. Data collection materials will be provided.
• Conduct face-to-face interviews with small business owners and operators within the informal economy.
• Accurately record responses and maintain detailed notes on interviews.
• Ensure confidentiality and ethical standards are upheld during all interactions.
• Assist in the identification and recruitment of participants from diverse backgrounds.
• Collaborate with the research team to analyse preliminary data and provide insights.
• Report regularly on progress and any challenges encountered in the field.
• Students or graduates in economics, business management, entrepreneurship, social sciences, development studies, or a related field (current students are also encouraged to apply).
• Previous experience conducting field research or interviews is unnecessary, BUT it offers a distinct advantage – especially focusing on small businesses.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds (street-wise) – ability to switch between English and Shona.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
