The tasks for this position will be related to the following areas:
-Coordinates the project through work planning, budget monitoring, monitoring and evaluation and follow-up with the implementing partners to ensure all activities are implemented in accordance to the project logframe;
-Ensures timely procurement of all goods and services for the project in accordance to FAO rules and regulations.
-Facilitates and undertakes regular communication with all project stakeholders (MLAFWRD, MoLOG, partners, etc) including chairing and organizing project Coordination meetings.
-Prepares project reports as per funding agreement and as requested by various audiences.
-Provides recommendations to the Budget Holder for management actions of the project.
-Participates in timely project closures.
-Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.;
-Understand FAO basic communication, and prepare the project communication plan
-Contribute to regular (at least monthly) and quality information (images and text) feeding the validated communication plan implementation
-Produce at least one key communication product per month (video or podcast interview, article, or publication) talking about your expertise and technical innovative knowledge, areas of responsibility, and FAO project’s work and results, acknowledging donors and partners
-Performs any other related duties as may be required.
Advanced (Master’s) university degree agriculture, water resources, livestock, nutrition, development studies, disaster management, or closely related field
At least five years of relevant experience in resilience and emergency, livelihood assistance, project management and/or coordination in the rural and drought affected areas, agriculture, food security and nutrition, or related disciplines with NGOs or UN Organization in a multicultural environment required.
Working knowledge of English and any local language

Technical/Functional Skills:
-Experience in resilience and emergency support, project design, coordination, M&E, value chain, humanitarian coordination, agriculture food security and nutrition, livelihoods, and NRM, management and implementation.
-Excellent interpersonal communications and coordination skills, and proven ability to work constructively with a variety of stakeholders to achieve common goals.
-Demonstrated understanding of the purpose and functions of the technical programme, operational guidelines and project/programme management procedures, preferably those adopted by the United Nations or FAO.
-Extent and relevance of experience in the field of humanitarian assistance relating to food and nutrition security, agriculture and rural development.
-Extent and relevance of experience in the identification, formulation and preparation of programme and project proposals as well as programme/project implementation, monitoring and review.
