Qualifications and Experience

The applicant must at least hold an M.Sc./M.Phil. qualification or equivalent in either of the following: Earth Science, Geophysics, Geology and Hydrogeology. A PhD will be a clear advantage. An applicant without a PhD will be expected to register for studies leading to a PhD qualification. Proof of active research in the form of published journal articles and at least two years teaching experience will be a definite advantage. The applicant must submit a Teaching and Research Statement.
-The successful candidate is expected to be conversant with the basic Physics/Earth Sciences taught at undergraduate level. Further, the applicant shall be expected to teach the undergraduate modules in addition to the courses in M.Sc. Geophysics programme. Furthermore, the successful candidate shall participate in all the Education 5.0 pillars that require them to actively be engaged in meaningful research that leads to development and economic sustainability. In doing so, the successful candidate shall be expected to attract funding for research and foster collaborative research with the Department, Faculty and University and other institutions.
