The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, working with a network of 191-member National Societies (NSs). IFRC aims to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote humanitarian activities globally. The organization is dedicated to preventing and alleviating human suffering, contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace worldwide.
Under the direct supervision of the fleet officer, the driver will be responsible for transporting the IFRC team, materials, and equipment for program activities, along with performing miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary.
-Drive assigned vehicles in adherence to IFRC driver rules and regulations.
-Regularly inspect the vehicle, ensuring it complies with standard road safety measures.
-Transport the team to various destinations.
-Assist in delivering communications and handle errands as required.
-Ensure all occupants wear seat belts, and no unauthorized passengers are in the vehicle.
-Maintain regular vehicle maintenance and keep it in clean, flawless operating condition.
-Visually inspect and test the vehicle before departure.
-Obey all traffic rules and regulations in the country.
-Keep the vehicle log book up to date with all required information.
-Obey all traffic signs and IFRC driving rules.
-Keep an inventory of all tools and accessories in the vehicle.
Ad
-Secondary level education; preferred tertiary education.
-Valid Zimbabwe driving license and a valid certificate of good conduct.
Experience
-Minimum 5 years of working experience in a similar position.
-Working experience with international organizations, NGOs, Zimbabwe ministries, or embassies is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Languages:
-Proficient computer skills.
-Mechanical knowledge, training in first aid, or security is an advantage.
-Broad understanding of Red Cross/Red Crescent activities.
-Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
-Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
-Sensitivity to diversity.
-Attention to detail.
-Fluently spoken and written English.
