VACANCY: DISTRICT ENGINEER (GRADE 10). Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the above vacant post that have arisen within Mwenezi Rural District Council.
Duties and Responsibilities
a. Design and implement efficient and effective management systems in all sections under the Roads and Works department. b. To prepare monthly work plans for routine maintenance. c. To manage road network in Council including construction and maintenance in liaison with ZINARA. d. To carry out designs of civil works and ensuring management thereof. e. Assisting in the management of tendering process for the procurement of goods and services. f. Supervision and monitoring of contractors/ consultancy. g. To carry out surveys for new road works and supervision for the construction of these roads. h. To work hand in glove with the Planning Officer in spatial planning, implementation as well as M & E of developmental projects in the District. i. Ensure preparation and implementation of annual departmental budget for submission to relevant Council Committee. j. Prepare monthly reports for submission to the Chief Executive Officer, relevant Committee and Council. k. Timeous implementation of Council resolutions relevant to the department. l. To ensure preparation of development plans. m. To perform any other duties related to Council as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications and Experience
1. At least a BSC Civil Engineering/ BSC Civil Engineering and Water from a reputable University. 2. A clean class 4 Driver’s license a must. 3. The ideal candidate must be between 30 years of age and above. 4. At least 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in a Local Government Environment. 5. Clean record of service in the Local Government fraternity.
